Celtic tiaras Medieval jewellery design

Having studied Jewellery design at University I decided to write my thesis on Celtic metalwork and its production in North Wales. This was a difficult task as there was little information readily available.

Dublin National Museum - Celtic metalwork

I traveled to Dublin National Museum of Ireland. Here I saw the most awe inspiring site of my life! The Goldwork exhibition which houses early Celtic metalwork made my jaw drop!.I wanted to know how and why these people created such treasures and this has sent me on a voyage of discovery ever since.

National School of Blacksmithing

Not satisfied with working on a small scale I decided to enrol on a Blacksmithing course at the National School of Blacksmithing near Hereford for two years, where I learnt traditional forging techniques and production methods. Again I studied ancient Ironwork for my personal project.

Medieval Jewellery and Celtic Tiaras are just some exampls of my work. Please visit our shop for a range of Celtic Jewellery.

I re-produced details of the Capel Garmon Fire Dogs. For my research I went to the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff to look at the originals and study their X-rays to see how they were constructed.

Celtic Heritage

On my return to live in North Wales I worked for a local Designer Blacksmith and have since worked for two other craftspeople to gain as much business experience as possible before setting up on my own. This is such an exciting time when I am creating and developing new work and taking inspiration from my local natural environment and my Celtic Heritage.

New public workshop

With my new public workshop I hope to develop further my product ranges which will be updated regularly and meet the general public, where I can be seen at work, hopefully inspiring the next generation to work with their hands!?
